The journey of Netflix

Netflix, Inc. is an American over-the-top media services provider, Founded in 1997 by Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph, the company's primary business is its subscription-based streaming service, which offers online streaming of a library of films and television programs including those produced in-house.In 2017 Netflix had a total revenue of $11.692 billion. Netflix also introduced binge watching which resulted in increase of the subscribers. It is often called as "Next generation television".

Netflix's initial business model included DVD sales and rental by mail. In 2007, Netflix expanded its business with the introduction of streaming media, while retaining the DVD and Blu-ray rental service. The company expanded internationally, with streaming made available to Canada in 2010 and continued growing its streaming service from there; by January 2016, Netflix services operated in over 190 countries. In 2013, Netflix used data analysis of their users and sorted out that David Fincher the director of social media was very popular and the British version of the "House of cards", was well received by the viewers. The viewers of the "House of Cards" and David Fincher's films also watched films starting Kevin Spacy, so Netflix decided to make an American version of the "House of cards". Then it used different ways to promote the series, which included advertisements staring Kevin Spacy and made audience recollect the films of David Fincher, by doing this they attracted many users. In the first quarter of 2013 Netflix got 2M new subscribers after the release of the show which accounted in reimbursing the cost of the production.

Netflix's website has 117.6 million subscribers as of 2018.As of January 28, 2018, Netflix's website ranked as the 30th most trafficked website in the world and 9th most trafficked website in the United States. Netflix will venture into live programs including concerts and sports events. It's predicted that by 2030 the subscribers will reach 300M. This is nothing short of a revolution in the entertainment industry!
